The 2025 National Cross-Country Championships, organized by the Chinese Athletics Association, took place on March 15-16 in the scenic Huangshan region. Huaqiao University stood out as the top performer, securing first place in the university team rankings and claiming both men’s individual titles.
In the men’s university division, Tang Ziwei, a 2024 sports training major, shined with a remarkable performance. He claimed double gold in the 10km and 6km events, posting impressive times of 36:28 and 21:12, respectively. Tang was the only athlete at the championships to earn the “double crown” honor.
Teammate Li Xianyi, also a freshman majoring in sports training, demonstrated exceptional skill by finishing eighth in the 6km and sixth in the 10km. Adding to the team’s achievements, Huang Chao, a third-year physical education major, achieved eighth place in the 10km event.
The event, widely regarded as one of China’s premier cross-country competitions, successfully brought together 752 athletes representing 45 teams from across the country.
