On the evening of Mar 6, the Southeast Division of the 27th Chinese University Basketball League (CUBAL) Division 1 League final concluded with Huaqiao University (HQU) decisively defeating Shanghai Jiao Tong University by a score of 76:30, earning its 15th “Southeast King” title. Zhang Gaoming, wearing jersey number 20 for HQU, was named the MVP of the Southeast Division, delivering a stellar performance that included sinking an impressive seven three-pointers.

Throughout the Southeast competition, HQU showcased exceptional form, highlighted by three emphatic group-stage wins: a 120:49 blowout against Wenzhou University, a 114:39 rout of Soochow University, and a 71:58 triumph over Shenzhen University. Advancing to the elimination rounds, HQU again proved unstoppable—first defeating Fujian Normal University with a score of 104:59 in the eighth-final, then outclassing Zhejiang University 90:56 in the quarterfinals. There, they punched their ticket to the national competition. A close-fought 68:61 semifinal win over the formidable Ningbo University underscored HQU’s resilience before their ultimate showdown with Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Displaying exceptional teamwork, unwavering resolve, and seamless coordination in both offense and defense, HQU completed their perfect run with eight wins out of eight matches, claiming yet another “Southeast King” title.
